Rustic Farmhouse Sausage Casserole

  1. In a large casserole dish, over high heat, brown the sausage on all sides for about 6 mins. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Next fry the bacon until it begins to brown. Add in the onions and garlic and cook until soft. Sprinkle in the sage, fennel seeds, thyme and chilli. Cook for a further minute continually stirring.
  3. Create a small well in the middle of the onions and cook off the tomato paste for a minute then stir through with the onions. Add the canned tomatoes, chicken stock, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, bay leaves and beans in. Add the sausages back into the casserole dish and bring the boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer covered for 20 mins.
  5. Serve and enjoy!
