Although we can’t jump on a plane to the US every week, that isn’t gonna stop us from trying their famous fast food. We’ll just have to make it ourselves.

  • 4 brown onions, diced
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt

Burger Sauce

  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 1/3 cup chives, finely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • ½ cup pickles, finely diced

Loaded Fries Sauce

  • ½ cup pickles, finely diced
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. chives, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tsp. sugar

Cheese Sauce

  • 30g butter, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1 cup cheddar, grated
  • ½ cup gruyere, grated
  • ½ cup mozzarella
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg

To Assemble

  • 1 pack Three Aussie Farmers Outback BBQ Burgers
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 brown onion, thickly sliced
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • ½ iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1kg fries, cooked

How To Make It

  1. Heat a med. saucepan over med. heat and add butter. Once butter is bubbling add onion, sugar, and salt. Cook for 45 mins until the onion has caramelised, stirring occasionally.
  2. In a med. bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, tomato sauce, chives, Worcestershire sauce and sugar. Add pickles and half the caramelised onion, then fold gently to combine and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, combine all the loaded fries sauce ingredients along with half the remaining onions and set aside.
  4. To make the cheese sauce, add butter to a med. saucepan over med. heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 30 secs. Slowly add the warm milk, whisking consistently until it begins to thicken. Turn the heat to low, then whisk in all the cheeses and nutmeg. Keep on low heat stirring occasionally while you prepare the rest of the ingredients.
  5. Heat a fry-pan over med-high heat, then add butter and onion slices and cook on both sides for 3 mins until browned. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  6. Cook burger patties according to pack instructions, then sprinkle cheese on the top of each patty and cook until melted. Remove burgers from the pan and set aside.
  7. Slice burger buns and toast in the same fry-pan over a med-high heat.
  8. To assemble, add burger sauce to the base of each burger bun, followed by lettuce, tomato, burger patty, and grilled onion, then finish with the top burger buns.
  9. In a large sharing dish add the cooked fries, then pour over cheese sauce, fry sauce and top with remaining caramelised onions.
  10. Serve and enjoy!

TIP: If the cheese sauce becomes too thick add more milk.

Three Aussie Farmers - The Outback BBQ

If there was one way to make a BBQ a bit more Australian, it’s by bringing the outback to your backyard.

With our Aussie pork and beef blend, we’ve created a coarse ground homestyle burger – just like mum used to make. This is everything a burger should be and one for the whole family to enjoy.
