Hot Mess Glazed Ham
This recipe combines the sweet, savory, and spicy flavors of honey, mustard, and the unique kick of Sweet Heat Co’s Hot Mess sauce to create a beautifully caramelised, juicy ham.
What You Need
- 1 Three Aussie Farmers Half Leg Ham
- ¾ cup honey
- 60g butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. mustard
- 1 Tbsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 2 cups chicken stock
- 1 cup Sweet Heat Co Hot Mess
How To Make It
- Pre-heat fan forced oven to 160°C and place a lightly oiled rack in a roasting pan.
- Prepare the ham by removing the rind. Starting at the large end, and use your fingers to carefully separate the rind from the fat and discard the rind. Using a sharp knife, score the fat, being careful not to cut into the meat. Place the ham into the prepared roasting pan.
- In a pot, combine honey, butter, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Place over med-high heat and bring to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 7 mins.
- Generously baste the ham with the honey glaze before adding chicken stock to the bottom of the roasting dish. Place the ham in the oven and cook for 20 mins. Baste the ham with more honey glaze and the dripping and in the bottom of the dish and repeat every 15 mins for 1 hour, or until the glaze starts to caramelise.
- After 1 hr, baste the ham with Sweet Heat Co Hot Mess and return to the oven for 15-20 mins to finish caramelising.
- Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 10 mins.
- Serve and enjoy!
