Nothing scary about this tasty little guy, he won’t bite. You, however, will…into this Halloween-inspired treat that is sure to impress your guests!
What You Need
- 2 packs Three Aussie Farmers Louisiana Sausages, casings removed
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 eggs, 1 beaten
- 1 cup cheese, grated
- 6 sheets puff pastry
- Sesame seeds / black sesame seeds
- Tomato chutney, to serve
- 8 candy eyes or olives, to garnish
- Parsley or rosemary, to garnish
How To Make It
- Pre-heat fan-forced oven to 190⁰C.
- In a bowl combine sausage meat, breadcrumbs, onion, 1 egg, cheese and mix until combined.
- Form a long pastry sheet by slightly overlaying 2 sheets and press together on the shorter side. Spread the sausage mix along the long edge of the pastry. Roll into a log and press together to seal. Cut off any excess pastry and set aside.
- Cut slits into the formed sausage roll on the opposite side to the seal and bend into a circular shape.
- Brush with egg wash and bake in the oven for 10 mins.
- Brush with more egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds, then bake for a further 10 mins.
- Meanwhile, use leftover pastry to make spider legs. Cut the long pastry square into 8 x 2cm thick strips (approx. 6cm in length). Twirl the strips, place onto a lined baking tray then brush with egg wash. Transfer to the oven to bake for 10 mins or until golden.
- Remove sausage roll and legs from the oven. Transfer sausage roll to a serving platter, then use toothpicks to attach the legs to the roll, four on each side.
- Add the eyes, then place tomato chutney in the center to serve.
