Beer, Brown Sugar & Mustard Glazed Ham
Tis the season to be jolly! While it’s not the norm to glaze a ham with amber gold, we’ve given it a crack. You can even do this one on the barbie and a sneaky can for the cook is always encouraged!
what you need
- 1 Three Aussie Farmers Half Leg Ham
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cans beer (we used lager)
- ¼ cup Dijon mustard
- 20 cloves
how to make it
- Pre-heat fan forced oven 180⁰C.
- Carefully remove the rind of the ham and score fat in a diamond pattern. Press a clove into the centre of each diamond.
- Wrap the hock in foil to prevent burning.
- Place a wire rack over a baking dish, then place ham on the rack.
- To make the glaze, combine sugar, beer and mustard in a saucepan. Bring to the boil, then reduce heat and simmer for approx. 20 mins. or until thickened
- Brush the ham generously with approx. ⅓ of the glaze, then place in the oven for 1 hour. Baste every 15 mins.
- Remove from oven, pour any leftover glaze on top then rest for 30mins.
- Carve into slices and serve. Enjoy!
