Outback Meatballs in Beer & BBQ Sauce

what you need
- 1 pack Three Aussie Farmers Outback BBQ Burgers
- 1 potato, peeled
- 1 egg
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. plain flour
- 375ml dark beer
- ⅓ cup water
- 150ml barbecue sauce
- 4 small onions, cut into wedges
- 1 Tbsp. fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Mashed potato, to serve
how to make it
- Pre-heat fan forced oven to 160°C.
- 2. Grate the potato using the coarse side of a box grater and squeeze out some of the liquid.
- In a large bowl, combine potato, egg, burger patty, mustard, thyme, salt and pepper.
- Form into 6 evenly sized meatballs and set aside.
- Heat an oven-proof fry-pan over med-high heat.
- Melt the butter, then add the flour and stir. Cook until lightly browned for 2-3 mins.
- Add the beer and simmer for 5 mins or until the sauce has thickened.
- Add the water, BBQ sauce and salt, then stir to combine.
- Add the meatballs and onion wedges.
- Spoon a little of the sauce over the meatballs.
- Place in the oven and cook for 30 mins, basting the meatballs with sauce several times during the cooking process.
- Serve meatballs on a bed of mashed potatoes with a generous drizzle of sauce. Enjoy!
